Obituary

David "Sleepy" Morgan transitioned to be with the Creator on January 25, 2014.  He was born to the late Mr. Louis Williams and Mrs. Rosie Lee Morgan on April 6, 1941.  David grew up in the Hinds County area of Mississippi where he was fondly know.  He accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at a very young age and was a member of Spring Ridge Missionary Baptist Church until his death.

He worked tirelessly as a truck driver for Miller Trucking Company, Vicksburg MS for over twenty years and as an owner operator briefly.  David dedicated his volunteer services to the Edwards & Hinds County Volunteer Fire Department until his health failed him.  Anyone who knew David could tell you, he had a comedic sense of humor about himself and knew how to keep you in stitches.  He cared deeply for his kids, siblings, and grand kids who affectionately called him "Granddaddy".

David's loving companion for over 40 years, Betty J. Weeden, preceded him in death, as well as three of his brothers (Charles Turner, Eddie Morgan Sr., & B.W. Turner) and his grand-mother (Dora B. Odom).

He is survived by six children: Claudette Franklin, Indianapolis IN; Barbara Turner, Jackson MS; Norman ( Jeanette) Weeden, Edwards MS; Cheryl (Jeffery) Livingston, Pearl MS; Doretha (Keith) Godley, San Antonio TX; David (Ravilla) Weeden, Edwards MS; 11 grandchildren (Jeremy, Brenton, Norman Jr., Keith Jr., Kejuan, Crystal, William, Amalya, Mishan, Haniya, Da'Yan),  five great-grandchildren; three brothers: Robert (Mary) Turner Sr. Raymond, MS; John (Mary) Morgan, Hermanville MS; Albert Morgan, Chicago IL; one sister: Silvia Deloris (Donald) Baker, St. Louis MO; two uncles: R. C. (Louise) Morgan,  Jackson, MS; J.D. Morgan, Jackson, MS; one brother in law: Norman (Ruby) Weeden Houston, TX; three sister-in-law: Linda (Earl) Dixon, Jackson, MS; Bessie Ruth Warrick, Jackson, MS; Rosetta Morgan Fisher, Champaign, IL; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

David is also survived by a special friend and extended family, which God blessed to be there for him in his time of need for the past 8 years, Ms Clyde Evelyn Wright, Edwards MS and the Wright family.
