She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. James Missionary Baptist Church. Mother Anderson remained a loyal and faithful member until her health began to fail her several months ago. She then moved to Chester, Virginia, to live with her son, Ozell, who along with his family, affectionately cared for her throughout her brief illness. ALso, precceding her in death are two brothers, Thomas Jelks and Willie Jelks; two sisters, Bobble Jelks Shippings and Pearline Singleton, and one brother-in-law, Floyd Anderson.

In an effort to support her family, she was employed by Cal-Maine Foods for thirty-five years until she retired. No matter when or where Mother Anderson would be seen, she always exhibited a radiant smiles entangled with a grin - a smile that warmed the heart and captured the attention of many.
