Mr. Burnett Claxton age 59 years, of Clinton, MS died June 11, 2016 in Edwards, MS. Funeral Service
will be held at Sandhill MB Church in Edwards, MS Saturday June 18, 2016 at 11:00 o'clock am.
Visitation will be Friday June 17, 2016 from 1:00 pm -7:00 pm at Willis and Sons Funeral home. For any additional information call Willis and Sons Funeral Home.

Obituary 

Mr. Burnett "Chick" Claxton was born June 8, 1957 to the late Wilbert Claxton and Dorothy Barnes Claxton in Crystal Springs, Mississippi.

He was raised in Jackson, Mississippi with his eight brothers and three sisters.  Three brothers, Louis Ducksworth, James Claxton, and Jerry Ducksworth, preceded him in death.  

He attended Westside Elementary and Middle school and Utica Hinds AHS, where he played basketball.  He followed in his father Wilbert's footsteps and became a drywall contractor, establishing B. Claxton Drywall in 1977.  During the years of his career, his work was admired by other prominent contractors.  They often called him the "weekend warrior", because he would work seven days a week to complete a job.

He confessed Christ at an early age joined Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi, where he served as Sunday School teacher.  He joined Sand Hill Missionary Baptist Church in 1986, where he served as a member of the Board of Trustees, and The Heavenly Manna Ministries, until his untimely death. 

Burnett Claxton married Debbe Coleman on August 15, 1975.  To this union three children were born.

He leaves to cherish his memories:  his loving wife of 41 years, Debbie L. Claxton; his children, Kimberly Claxton, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Tiffany Claxton, of Dallas, Texas, Jason (Ashley) Claxton, LaShundra Gray, of Clinton, Mississippi, and DeMarcus McGee, of Cedar Hill, Texas; eight grand children, Amaris Jones-Claxton, Shatarian Gray, Ivory Claxton, Shunessy Gray, Christian Jones, Jaden Gray, Jason Claxton II, and Addyson Claxton; his only great grand children,  Dexter Morgan II; his brothers Larry (Gwen) Claxton of Houston, Texas, Ronnie (Angela) Claxton of Jackson, Mississippi, Wardell (Jackie) Claxton of Houston, Texas, Michael (Cathy) Ducksworth of Atlanta, Gorgia, and Melton Ducksworth of Houston, Texas; his sisters, Bobbie Jo (Ben) White of Huntsville, Alabama, Roshel (Lonz0) Bully of Jackson, Mississippi, and Tracy (Robert) Anthony of Houston, Texas, a mother Leanna Ducksworth of Houston, Texas and a father John Robinson Jr. of Jackson, Mississippi; an uncle, R.C. Claxton of Jackson, Mississippi; two aunts, Dorothy Robinson and Lorene Norwood both of Jackson, Mississippi; three sister in law, Pamela Miller of Clinton, Mississippi, Sara Ann Claxton of Jackson, Mississippi and Chemille Ducksworth of Houston, Texas; three brothers in law, Alfred (Genolia) Lindsay of Pearl, Mississippi, Gregory Coleman of Clinton, Mississippi, and Robert Bryant of Jackson, Mississippi, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.

Thank you Mr. Willis for doing a great job and bring there for my family. It was the hardest times of our lives but your services made it much easier to deal..you are truly appreciated.
