Mr. Carter will be laid to rest Friday, February 6, 2015 at Seventh Day Adventist, Forest Ave, Jackson MS. His services will begin at 2:00 p.m. His reposed will be at 1:00 pm. Committal will be at Autumn Woods Memorial Gardens, Jackson MS.
Obituary
On August 8th 1958, Danny Ray Carter was born to Lillie Bell Carter and B.C. Carter, Sr., in Jackson, Mississippi.
In 1962, Danny's family moved to Brooklyn, New York where he attended Public School 46. He also attended Rothchild Junior High School and later attended Boys and Prospect High School. In his younger years Danny was athletic. He liked to swim, play basketball and baseball.
In 1977, he returned to Jackson with his family where he went to work at his first job at "Duo-Fold" where he was a machine operator. he met and dated Joann Murrel. To this union one son was born Rodricus Murrel.
In 1979, he went to work at Millsaps College where he worked as a groundskeeper. In 1980, he met and married the love of his life and wife of 34 years Ms. Debra Jacobs. To this union were born six beautiful girls: Keisha, Ylonn, Latrie, Java, Nicole and Shannon.
Danny was a hard worker. He worked various jobs throughout the years to support his family. One of the last jobs he held before his health began to fail was at Farmers Market restaurant where he performed various duties.
For 34 years, Danny was a passionate CB'er. His first CB handle was "Beaver Teaser". It was later changed to "Pretty Boy". This name was later given to him by "Boss Master" because of the eloquent way he used to talk on the CB. Over the years he was a member of several CB clubs: Magnolia Stars, DX Tube Burners and Top of the Line. Danny enjoyed traveling with his wife and kids and having cookouts with his whole family.
In 1994 Danny's health begin to fail due to a heart condition. Danny departed this life in January 26th 2015 at the University medical Center. He was preceded in death by his father Mr. B.C. Carter Sr.; two sisters, Annie Mae Hill and Mary Carter and one brother Jimmy Lee Carter.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Lillie Bell Carter of Madison, Mississippi; his loving wife Debra; one son Rodricus Murrel of Tupelo, Mississippi; six daughters: Keisha James (Akilla), Ylonn Burkett (Tylee, Sr.,), Latrice Carter, Java Carter, Nicole Carter, and Shannon Carter all of Jackson Mississippi; twelve grandchildren: two brothers, B.C. Carter, Jr. (Carol) of Mount Vernon, New York and Gregory Carter (Linda) of Jackson, Mississippi; three sisters, Vanessa Collins (Michael), Rosetta Wright (Sylvester, Sr.), and Rhodisha Carter all of Jackson, Mississippi; three God children, Reginald Bailey, Jastiny Bailey and Jazarion Bailey; four aunts; one uncle; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and family.
