Services
Mr. Roby will be laid to rest Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Winters Funeral Home Chapel. His services will begin at 12:00 p.m. Committal will be at Kosciusko City Cemetery in Kosciusko, MS . Visitation will be on Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Winters Funeral Home Chapel.
Obituary
Mr. J. C. Roby was born on February 16, 1929 in Kosciusko, Mississippi to the union of Ben and Maggie Roby. he professed a hope in Christ at an early age and received his education in the Attala County Public Schools.
On May 21, 1952, J. C. joined the United States Army and received an honorable discharge on May 16, 1952. After the Army, J. C. moved to Florida for a while and then moved back to Kosciusko.
J. C. was a quiet man. He work at a gas station on Highway 12 in Kosciusko pumping gas and working on cars for many years. He loved working on cars, playing the lottery, going to the casino and playing cards while having a swig or two. J. C. was part of the "Rock Hill Gang" in Kosciusko along with his brother Joe T. Roby and friends.
J. C. departed this life at the age of 85 at the University Medical Center on Thursday, January 15, 2015 in Jackson, Mississippi. J. C. did not have any children, so he leaves to mourn his passing and to cherish his memory: four nephews, Joe Terry (Rosemary) Hayes, Clifton (Yolanda) Hayes of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Tyrone (Penny) Nash of Houston, Texas and Anthony Roby of Detroit, Michigan; one niece, Shelia Roby-Arnold of Indianapolis, Indiana; faithful friend, Adolphus McMillion (Big Mac) now of Detroit, Michigan, special friend, Ruth Ann and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
J. C. was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Maggie Roby; brother, Joe T. Roby; sisters, Davene Brooks and Annie Fay Hannah, niece, Leisha Pearl Pannell-Roby; Uncle Joe and Aunt Virginia Roby.
His presence will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
