Mr. Jeffery S. Graves, funeral arrangements have been scheduled for Public Visitation Friday, August 16, 2017 at Willis & Son's Funeral Home, 5235 Robinson Road Ext., Jackson, Mississippi 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Funeral services scheduled for Friday, August 12, 2017 at Willis and Sons Funeral Home Jackson, Mississippi at 6:00 p.m. Interment at Garden Memorial Cemetery, Jackson MS.
Obituary
Jeffrey Scott Graves is the second son born to James and Clotie Graves, on February 22, 1974 in Jackson, Mississippi.
He was baptized into the Body of Christ at the Church on Woodrow Wilson Avenue, in Jackson, Mississippi. Later, with his father, mother and other members, he worked to establish the first Church of Christ in Clinton, Mississippi for the African American Race to attend (Tinnin Road Church of Christ). He assisted in passing out church flyers, knocking on doors, serving communion and leading song service in worship. He also worked as a volunteer to help build Kids Town of Clinton, Mississippi.
Realizing that Jeffery was exceptionally smart, his parents enrolled him in 1st grade at CM&I College where he excelled in all subjects at the age of five (5). He enrolled in the second grad at the age of six (6) in the Jackson Public School System and attended there until his parents moved to Clinton, Mississippi. He enrolled in Clinton High School in the tenth grade. At Clinton High, he won numerous awards in art. Upon graduation, he was awarded an Art Scholarship to Mississippi Valley State University.
He also attended Dr. Williams Scholl University in Chicago, Illinois, where he received his Certification of Podiatric Medicine from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. In 2009 he successfully completed a Master Level Training Program, from Stanford University, in Stanford, California, and became a teacher of Chronic Disease Self-Management Class, which he taught at local Senior Citizen Centers in Jackson, Clinton and throughout Hinds County. He loved working with Seniors and teaching the class.
He Worked as he CEO of Quality Medical Service, Inc., until his health failed in 2011. After retirement, he continued to be a mentor to his son, cousins, nieces, nephews and other young people (Exie, George, Justin, Kelvin, Demetrius, Tyler, Rafael, Serita, Tishea, Deon and Denicko).
He married Teri Peters in 1998 and they were blessed with one son, Jacobie Scott Graves.
Jeffery was preceded in death by his father, James Graves and brother, Isaac Graves.
The passing of Jeffrey will leaved a void in the lives of: his mother Clotie Robinson Graves; son, Jacobie Graves; brothers, James (Alyssal), Jarvese (Nicole), and Isaiah (Yvonne), Clinton, Mississippi; God-sister, Barbara (Ronnie); niece; Jordan Graves; nephews, Jaylon, Javari, Tyler, Nysaiah, Dynsaiah and Brayden Graves; a special friend, Tammy Robinson; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
