Mr. John Wesley Woodard, funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Willis and Sons Funeral Home 5235 Robinson Road Ext., Jackson MS at 11:00 a.m.  Visitation will be Friday, October 20, 2017 from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Willis and Sons Funeral Home. Interment at  Autumn Woods Memorial Cemetery, Jackson, MS.

Obituary 

John Wesley Woodard was born to Sarah Luster Woodard and Andrew Woodard in Yazoo County, Mississippi on May 1, 1931.  From his birth until his passing; to know him was to love him.  On Thursday, October 12, 2017; God saw he was getting weary and could fight no more so He called him into eternal rest leaving family and friends heartbroken but understanding that God only loaned him to us for a season; so with tearful eyes we accept your departure.   For Eight-Six years "Paw Paw" has made a tremendous impact on several lives, whether it was his lemon pies, his funny jokes, him sneaking sweets, or being everybody's handy man the memories which are left will last a lifetime.  For Eighty-Five of those years he carried a zeal like none other, longer refuse.  This assignment may seemingly be a misfortune for those he leaves behind, nevertheless he receives a huge sign on bonus which includes a reunion with his parents, a son, and seven siblings.  

"Paw Paw" attended school in Yazoo County and worded on local farms in the area.   He became an active member of the U. S. Army in 1950 serving honorably for two years.  His career paths varied over the years even up until his untimely sickness, working most of those years in maintenance for Bob Carroll.

For years "Paw Paw" expressed himself very openly, until a massive stroke left him non-verbal however he will always be known from his blank stare to always joking and making others laugh.  He leaves to cherish his most memorable values, laughs and tears to his devoted wife of thirty-two years, Ethel Woodard - his children, Alam (James) Turner, Katherine Mitchell, Andrea (Reginald) Wilson, Annette Haggard, Geanette (Cavin) Phillips, Obadiah (Yeonnette) Williams,  John (Barbara) Woodard, Jr., Tracey Woodard, and Kourtney Paige - seven siblings, Hattie McCarty, Sarah Woodard, Janie Render, Florean Guidry, Elizabeth Woodard, Andrew (Mary) Woodard, and Donald Woodard - one brother-in-law Joseph Cage, Sr., twenty-six grandchildren, several great grandchildren - God Children Sharon Thompson and Alfred Haggard - and a host of other relatives and friends.

Dear Family, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your dear loved one and send you my sincere condolences. May you find comfort from God's word at Revelation 21:3,4 and John 5:28,29. Heartfelt prayers are with you during this difficult time.
