Mr. Johnson will be laid to rest Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Mt. Shiloh Baptist Church, Edwards, MS.   His services will begin at 11:00 p.m.  Committal will be at Mt. Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, Edwards, MS.   Visitation will be on Friday, March 13, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Willis and Sons Funeral Home in Jackson, MS.

Obituary

A Time To Celebrate
The Church Family of Mount Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church humbly bow our heads in deep submission to the will of the Almighty God.  We come to celebrate the Homegoing of Brother Leroy Johnson.

A Time to Be Born
Leroy Johnson was born August 15, 1965 to Julius Johnson, Jr and Gertrude Johnson of Edwards, Mississippi.

A Time for Service
Leroy confessed Christ at an early age at Mount Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Edwards, Mississippi, where he served as a choir member.  When the choir began to sing "Sign me up for the Christian Jubilee",  Leroy's voice could be heard echoing " write my name on the roll, I want to be ready when Jesus comes."

Time for Wisdom
Leroy had a charismatic, charming personality and a warm smile that was admired by all who knew him.  Leroy was a 1983 graduate of Hinds County Agricultural High School and a 1985 graduate of Utica Junior College, Associate of Applied Science, Media Technology.  He was employed with MSNEWSNOW,  formally WLBT Channel 3, Jackson, Mississippi, Hinds Community College, Raymond, Mississippi and River Oaks Medical Center, Flowood, Mississippi.

A Time for Love
Leroy married Antonia Simmons on April 11, 1993.  Leroy and Antonia were bless with one son, Denzell Leroy Johnson.  Leroy loved his son and was very proud of him.  

A Time to Rest
On March 5, 2015, in Edwards, Mississippi just as the ice was melting off the trees and the earth was slowly awaking from a winter storm, God whispered, "Leroy, come home."

A Time to Mourn
Leroy leaves to cherish his memories:  His only son, Denzell Johnson of Edwards, Mississippi; his parents, Gertrude Johnson and Julius Johnson, Jr. of Edwards, Mississippi; two sisters, Brenda Johnson and Zelma Davenport, both of Edwards, Mississippi; three brothers, Larry Johnson, Willie Johnson (Kimberly) and Julius Johnson, III, all of Edwards, Mississippi and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, family and friends.

A Time to Remember
Leroy was preceded in death by:  one brother, Ricky Johnson; one sister, Patricia Johnson Bishop and God Father, Jimmie Lee Simmons.

RIP Leroy. The Lord has called one of his beloved sons home. Your laugh and smile will be missed but your memories and spirit will dwell in our hearts forever. We shared so many years and fun times together, it seems just like yesterday. I will miss you "My Beloved Brother."
