Mr. Carter will be laid to rest Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Mt. Moriah M.B. Church, Edwards, MS. His services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Committal will be at Mt. Moriah Church Cemetery, Edwards, MS. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Friday, May 15, 2015.
Obituary
As surely as God is love, Robert Earl "Scrubby" Carter, Sr., entered into this world on September 29, 1948 to the late Roberta And Clifton Carter in Hinds County.
Earl accepted Christ at an early age and united with Moriah Missionary Baptist Church where he served as an usher until his health failed. The final chapter of Earl's life was recorded on May 5, 2015 at Merit Health Care in Jackson, Mississippi. Awaiting the presence of his spirit is: his wife, Jeanette G. Carter; father, Clifton Carter; mother Roberta Carter; and brother Alfonso Carter.
Earl received his formal education training from Edwards Jr. High School, Hinds A.H.S. and Utica Jr. College in Utica, Mississippi.
Earl was one of the best cooks in Edwards, Mississippi. He worked as a Chiller Operator for McCarty Foods until his health failed.
Robert Earl was abundantly blessed to leave his unfaltering love and affection to: his daughter, Lanette Butler of Edwards, Mississippi; sons, Robert Earl Carter, Jr., (Nina), Antonio T. Carter, of Monroe, Louisiana, Terrance D. Carter (Breyuna) of Edwards, Mississippi; and Hosea and Victoria Jackson of Flowers, Mississippi; five sisters, Annie J. Dulaney (Alan) of Edwards, Mississippi, Jeri Lewis of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Rose Slayers of St. Louis, Missouri, Diana Dealmond of Champaign, Illinois and Bernice White of Chicago, Illinois; brothers, Clifton Carter, Jr., of Champaign, Illinois and John H. Carter of Edwards, Mississippi; one sister-in-law, Nancy Collins (R.D.) of Edwards, Mississippi; special granddaughter, (Bug) Kenesha McFarland; special nieces, Letitia Haynes, Nichell Carter, Ke Shunnia Cater and Miracle Bingham; special nephews, Alan Dulaney, IV Ke Paris Stampley, and Allen M. Dulaney; special friends, Oscar Thompson, Leroy Scott, Maurice Woodruff, Allen Baity, Larry Neal and William Ivory; 21 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
