Obituary

Tommie was born on October 29, 1942 in Copiah County.  Mississippi to the late  Oliver O 'Quinn, Sr. and the late Catherine Walter O'Quinn.  Tommie was the seventh child born into their large, but loving family which included twelve children.  Treasuring and believing in God's word, Tommie C. O'Quinn acknowledged and received God's beckoning call on Saturday, July 25, 2015 and entered into eternal life.

Tommie accepted Christ at an early age at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Hermanville, Mississippi.  Tommie attended the public schools of  Copiah County, Mississippi.  Upon graduation from High School in 1961.  Tommie continued his education at Utica Institute Junior College (Utica, Mississippi), obtaining his Associate's degree in 1963.

After College, Tommie relocate to Queens, New York.  Shortly after his arrival, Tommie became employed by the New York City Transit Authority in addition to being self-employed in the home improvement industry.  He established and operated O'Quinn Interiors which was later renamed O'Quinn and Son Hardware.  Upon his retirement from Transit, he became a full-time entrepreneur, property owner and manager.  He successfully operated his businesses for over 40 years.

In 1971, Tommie was joined in matrimony with the late Carolyn Byrd-O'Quinn.  In that union, they were blessed with one child.  Upon the passing of his spouse.  Tommie relied on his faith to meet the challenges of becoming a young widower and single parent.  God allowed Tommie to find love again and blessed him with his  best friend and wife, Regina Lambert-O'Quinn.  To that union they were blessed with two children.

Tommie worked hard and played harder.  He enjoyed his life and lived it to the fullest.  Tommie was known for his hearty laughter and strong opinions.  He would definitely let you know if you were wrong.  He would often say  "I ain't never been wrong a day in my life.  Matter of fact, the time I thought I was wrong I was actually right."  Tommie was an avid hunter, motorcyclist and traveler.  He was the consummate entertainer and often performed for his family and friends.  He  cherished his family and spent his later years curating items for his "museum" and enjoying the serenity of his birthplace which he lovingly referred to as "the farm."  One of his most recent joys were found in supporting his son Kyle's NBA career as his "#1 Fan."

Tommie leaves many wonderful and unforgettable memories that will forever be in the hearts of his wife, Regina Lambert-O'Quinn, five children Cathy Moore, Tirrell Davis, Carroll O'Quinn, Rasheena Moss (Kevin) and Kyle O'Qunin all of New York City:  three grandchildren:  Iyania Martin, Shadai Plowden and Maxamillion O'Quinn
