Obituary

A Time To Celebrate
The Church Family of Mt. Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church humbly bow our heads in deep submission to the will of the Almighty God as we celebrate the Homegoing of Deacon Willie Johnson.

A Time To Be Born
Deacon Willie Johnson was born August 25, 1956 to Julius Johnson, Jr., and Gertrude Johnson of Edwards, Mississippi.  He was the second of eight children.  Early in life, Willie learned two valuable life-long lessons; to love, honor and respect the name of Jesus and if he ever wanted anything in life he had to work hard for it.  However,  the love he had for his wife of 35 years and his family cannot be measured.

A Time For Wisdom
Deacon Willie Johnson confessed Christ at an early age at Mt. Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Edwards, Mississippi.  At the age of 9, Deacon Johnson was asked to serve as Junior Deacon.  He was a faithful, dedicated servant.  In addition to serving as deacon, he also served as Sunday School Superintendent and teacher, Custodian, maintenance man, construction worker, electrician, air conditioning and heating repair man and grounds keeper.  If Mt. Shiloh needed it done; he was there.  He also served as the President of the Freewill Mission and was recently elected as Alderman-at-Large for the town of Edwards, Mississippi.

A Time for Love
Willie married Kimberly Kaye Lee in D'Lo, Mississippi on October 24, 1982.  Today, they call it a chauvinistic attitude, but Willie believed that a man was responsible for his household and to make sure that "ALL" their needs were met.  However, Deacon Johnson made sure that his "Mrs. Johnson" had everything she ever wanted and routinely surprised her with gifts he thought would make her happy.

A Time for Leisure
Deacon Johnson enjoyed living.  He loved studying the Sunday School lessons with his "Mrs. Johnson" and watching "Westerns" on Saturday nights.  he loved fishing especially when his son an grandson could join him.  Deacon Johnson was also an avid Jackson State University fan.  He purchased reserved season tickets annually to all basketball and football games.

A Time for Rest
Just as the trees were shedding their leaves preparing for their winter sleep, God turned his head and saw Willie and beaconed  for him to come home for his eternal rest.  At approximately 12:00 noon on October 12, 2017 Willie answered his call.

A Time to Mourn
Willie leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife Kimberly, his children:  Katrina of Lancaster, California; Angela, Willie Terrell, and Kristy all of Edwards, Mississippi; 16 grandchildren; his loving parents, Julius Johnson, Jr., and Gertrude Johnson of Edwards, Mississippi and 4 siblings;  Larry, Brenda, Zelma and Julius Johnson III all of Edwards, Mississippi.

A Time to Remember
Willie was preceded in death by his brothers Ricky and Leroy Johnson and sister Patricia Bishop.
