Mrs. Barbara Davis Thomas age 54 of Edward, MS. There will be a Memorial service held on Saturday July 15, 2017 at Willis and Sons Funeral Home Chapel, 5235 Robinson Rd Ext., Jackson MS at 11:30 a.m. Family will be present from 9:30 until service time Saturday July 15, 2017.
Obituary
On June 27, 1967, Barbara Denise "Roper" Thomas was handpicked from our Father's garden in heaven to be linked to our family's chain until she called back home. Barbara accepted Christ and joined Harvey Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Canton, Mississippi under the direction of Pastor Herrin Jenkins, Sr. She served there until her health failed.
Barbara attended Edwards Attendance Center where she first started playing basketball. She graduated with honors and continued playing basketball and also graduation with honors from Hinds Agriculture High School in 1985. She continued her love for basketball at Hinds Agriculture High School in 1985. She continued her love for basketball at Hinds Community College in Utica, Mississippi from 1985 to 1987, going on to graduate with honors. Barbara then decided to journey out to Houston Texas where she attended College at Texas Southern University before deciding to marry and continue her life in Germany with her husband Joe.
Barbara returned from Germany after the birth of her daughter in 1989. She worker for the United States Postal Service as a Mail Carrier until she started her new career with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi. She worked with Blue Cross for several years until her health failed.
Her father, Louis Turner and brother, Reginald Davis preceded her in death.
Barbara leaves behind to cherish her memories: her husband, Joe Lawrence Thomas, Pearl, Mississippi; one daughter, Samaja La'Queenia Thomas, Pearl Mississippi; son Quentin Joseph Thomas, Pearl Mississippi; four sisters, Pamela Davis (Alana Mounger), Minneapolis, Minnesota, Tangie Marie Alanwoko (Jude Alanwoko), Totonto, ON Canada, Shell Turner and Tasha Turner, both of Chicago, Illinois; one brother, Patrick Turner of Chicago, Illinois; nephew, Reginald Terrell Davis of Toronto, ON Canada; nieces, Accomplished Chidimma Alanwoko, Onyinyechi Victory Alanwoko, Chiemerie Praise Alanwoko, all of Toronto, ON Canada; and a host o aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
