Mrs. Barbara L. Johnson, funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Gallman Chapel AME Zion Church Old US Hwy 51, Crystal Springs, MS at 1:00 p.m.  Visitation will be Friday, June 22, 2018  from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Willis and Sons Funeral Home 5235 Robinson Road Ext., Jackson MS.   Interment: Shady Grove  Church Cemetery, Crystal MS.

Obituary

Mrs. Barbara Larose Gray Johnson was born on July 28, 1959, to Willie Ann Hodge and Charlie Gray.

Barbara attended Provine High School in Jackson, MS. She furthered her education at Jackson State University, Jackson MS, where she received two degrees.

She was a former employee at Trustmark Bank, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, United Parcel Service, World Comp, MAPP and Missionary Department of Human Service.

Early in life, she attended Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Crsytal Springs, MS. Later she worshiped with the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, MS under the leadership of Rev. Clyde Tate.

Preceeding Barbara in death were her father and mother; one brother, Leroy Gray; step-mother, Rosie Lee Gray, and her mother-in-law, Marie Johnson.

On Saturday, June 16, 2018, in the comfort of her home. a page was turned and a chapter closed in the life of Mrs. Barbara Larose Gray Johnson, but her life continues in the legacy of love and faith she leaves to enrich us all.

Barbara leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memories: her devoted husband, Charles Johnson of Jackson, MS; two sons, Chavin Johnson and wife, Marrissa of Houston, TX and Catrell Johnson of Jackson, MS; two sisters, Belinda Jenkins and husband Kenny, and Chanda Gray all of Jackson, MS;  one brother, Samuel Gray and wife Kim of Jackson, MS; two aunts and one uncle, Pearlene, Pauline and Troy Hodge of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Jenaiya, Jaela, Jianna, Jordan, Journee, and Cameron Johnson; two niece, Raven and Deandre; one nephew, William; one sister-in-law, Lurean Johnson and husband Dennis, and two brothers-in-law, Johnny Johnson and Early Tyler. Also cherishing her memories are aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Johnson , that s what I always called you. I ll always remember the laughs and good times we shared. I know you’re with God and safe and secure. No more suffering and worries. You were a part of my family for many years. The promise I made to you will be carried out So for now my friend Rest In Peace . I love you.
