Robinson, Helen,  of Jackson, Mississippi, age 74 died Tuesday, June 6, 2017 in Corona, CA.  Funeral Services will be held on Thursday June 15, 2017 Graveside at Garden Memorial Park Cemetery, 8001 US 49, Jackson, MS at 11:00 a.m.  No Public Visitation. Interment at Garden Memorial Cemetery.

Obituary

Ms. Helen H. Robinson was born, January 14, 1943 to the late Vernon and Effie Hampton in Hazlehurst, Mississippi.  Helen was the youngest of four children.  She confessed her belief in Christ early in life at Temple Holiness Church in Hazlehurst, Mississippi.  She later joined Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend M.K. Nelson.  Helen departed this life on Tuesday, June 6, 2017. 

Helen graduated from Parrish High School in Hazlehurst, Mississippi.  She was later united in holy matrimony t John L. Robinson, Sr., who preceded her in death.  From this union, one son, John L. Robinson, Jr., was born.  They made their home in Jackson, Mississippi.

Helen, who was known to her friends and loved ones as Pookie, loved to travel.  She had special skills in decorating, cooking and party planning, but most of all, she was an avid gardener.  Helen "Pookie", was strong minded and strong willed.  She was a friend, a babysitter, and a care provider to many.  She was truly a family person who always had a listening ear and a big heart.  She was a mother to all who crossed her path, especially to her son's closest friends and fraternity brothers.  She was known as "Mom" to them all.

Helen was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, John L. Robinson, Sr.; sister, Marie Hampton; and brother, Vernon Hampton.  She leaves to cherish her memories: her son, John L. Robinson, Jr. (Mia); her beloved grandson, Gavin C. Robinson; sister, Doris Hendricks; special cousins, Carroll "Billy" Hampton, Rhonda Lynch and Paula Lynch Brown; five sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.

I an Pookie's old neighbor that lived across the street in Hazlehurst MS. I knew I couldn't get in touch with her. Death was the last thing I thought about. I remember you as a little boy. Blessings to you and family.
