Obituary
I accepted Christ at a very young tender age and was baptized at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend C.L. West and after sixty years I was still a member until God called me home on last Sunday at the place He knew I loved, Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. During my younger years I served as an Usher, sung in the Choir and the Junior Matron. I always tried to exemplify my natural character of Prayer, Peace, Power and Poise. The Bible says in James Chapter 5 "the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." I always entered into my secret closet and pleaded to God for the needs of my church, family, friends and community. Matthew Chapter 5 says, "Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God. " I was a peacemaker and pacekeeper, thank God, he showed me how to reconcile and restore our family whenever needed. Now that I am gone this task is given to my baby sister Lillian, I am depending on you to take this role.
I met the late George Morrison, Sr., fell in love and we married. To this union five beautiful children were born: Thelma, George, Jr., Bonita, Tammy and Takita. I worked many places before I accepted my true calling to teach young children. I became an assistant teacher for Hinds County Project HeadStart and was promoted to a teacher. I retired from this position after 27 years due to my health.
In this life I have had many successes as well as some failures. In other words I've had some good days and some hills to climb. I've had some weary days and some lonely nights, but when I look around and think things over, I'm so happy to say that my good days far outweight my bad days. So based on that very fact, I didn't complain.
I leave to cherish precious everlasting memories with: my four daughters, Thelma Marie (Karl) Williams, Bonita Faye Morrison, Tammy Jean Morrison and Takita Nicole Morrison of Edwards, Mississippi; grandsons Aryes Tashod (Angel) Morrison and George DeKinley Morrison of Jackson, Mississippi; great grandchildren Jarrin Tashod Morrison, Aryeana Ta'Shea Morrison, Katlyn Woodall, and Tamari Barber; siblings, Bernice Harrington of Champaign, Illinois, Lillian Lee of Westminster, Maryland, Diane (Earnest) Mixon, Jean White, Willie James Taylor and Robbie Anderson of Edwards, Mississippi and Oscar (Linda) Laws of Utica , Mississippi; God daughters, Judy Hopkins of Tupelo, Mississippi and Barbara Thompson of Edwards, Mississippi; God grandchildren Kiente' Williams, Shunell Dillon, Ashley Kidd Brown, Tanika Pollard and Broderick Barnes of Edwards Mississippi; Tiffany Coins of Ridgeland, Mississippi and Trollars Moore of Byram, Mississippi; God great grandchildren, Kiyah Shelby, Rhealyn Shelby and Austin Shelby of Byram, Mississippi. With great joy I left a mark on the hearts of Leon Jefferson, my nieces, nephews, and my extended families the Ivory, Miller and Willis families.
