Services
Mrs. Reed will be laid to rest Saturday, January 24, 2015 at United M. B. Church in Edwards, MS. Her services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Committal will be at Pleasant Green Cemetery in Edwards, MS. Visitation will be on Friday, January 23, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Willis and Sons Funeral Home.
Obituary
Mrs. Lucille Kidd Coverson Reed affectionately known as "The Town Nurse" was born in Edwards, MS on October 30, 1938 to the late Elvis and Ida Bell Kidd.
She confessed Christ at an early age. She was baptized at Little Morning Star M.B. Church and transitioned to United Missionary Baptist Church where she faithfully served until her health failed.
She dedicated many years of service as "The Town Nurse" where she worked under Dr. Landrum as both his right hand woman and the boss. She mothered, nurtured and cared for MOST of Edwards. She dedicated most of her career to caring for the sick.
Lucille Kidd Coverson Reed was preceded in death by: her mother, Ida Bell Kidd, father, Elvis Bell Kidd, sisters, Willie Mae Alexander (Jackson, MS), Mary Kidd Ragan (Joliet, IL) brothers, Elvis Kidd Jr. (Vicksburg, MS ) and James Kidd (Chicago, IL) and one son James Lee Coverson (Edwards, MS).
She leaves to cherish her memories: four sons, Lee Arthur Kidd (Chicago, IL), Danny Coverson (St. Louis, MO), Roosevelt Coverson (Edwards, MS) and Dwight Coverson (Chicago, IL); two loving sisters, Virlean Willis (Edwards,, MS) and Annie Mae Horton (Vicksburg, MS); four granddaughters, Victoria Buchanan (Edwards, MS) Kendra Johnson (Byram, MS), Ashley Montgomery (Dallas, TX), and Dana Smith (St. Louis MO); four grandsons, Kenketric Bishop (Edwards, MS), James Montgomery (Clinton, MS) JaCori Richardson (Los Angeles, CA), and Damien Ross Williams (St. Louis, MO); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great grandchildren, in-laws and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great grandchildren, in laws and other relatives and friends.
