Obituary

Mary Lee Carter-Thompson was born August 31, 1951 to the late Eligah and Ethel Lee Carter (Ragans) in Edwards, Mississippi.  She attended Utica Junior College in Utica, MS  and received her degree in business.

Mary married her high school sweetheart, Nathaniel Thompson on December 29, 1969.  From this union five children were born:  Vinetta Jones, Nathaniel Thompson, Jr. (Natascha), Nicholas Thompson, Tiere Thompson, and Terrence Thompson.  During her career at Carver Elementary (Hinds County School District), she obtained many job titles under the direction of Dr. Edward Wiggins, such as: Assistant Librarian, Teacher Assistant, Bus Driver, and Office Assistant.  She became a dedicated servant of Jehovah on March 19, 1975 and remained a faithful servant until she fell asleep in death (March 11, 2017) at home amongst family and friends.

Mary T was affectionately known for her zealous spirit in the ministry.  The perfect day for her would be to talk to others about Jehovah to spend time with her family, and everyone that knew of her, knew that she loved a "GOOD" garage sale.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father and one sister, Virgie Demby (twin).

She leaves to cherish her memory three brothers and three sisters:  Eligah Carter (Freddie J), Raymond Carter (Vickie), James Carter, Delores Watkins (Charles) all of Edwards, MS, Betty Harris ( Cleveland) of Campaign, IL, and Geneva Wilson (Bennie) of Bovina, MS.  She also leaves 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, of whom she dearly loved, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Aunt Mary, you have been involved in my life for a long time. Your daughter was and is still my very first best friend! I remember you during my high school days until your very last day. We have faith in the resurrection when we shall see you again in Paradise on Earth. You have been a great person, super aunt, wonderful mother, terrific grand mother, even better great grandmother and an awesome friend of so many that will miss you forever. The memories of you will NEVER DIE. Rest well until Jehovah's Day comes. Revelation 21: 3, 4.
