Mrs. Thompson will be laid to rest Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Greater New Truelight M.B. Church in Brandon MS.   Her services will begin at 12:00 p.m.  Committal will be at Shady Grove C.M.E. Church Cemetery, Brandon, MS.   Visitation will be on Friday, April 17, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. to 700 p.m. at Willis and Sons Funeral Home,  Jackson, MS.

Obituary

Phoebe Audrey Triplett-Thompson was born July 21, 1951.  She was the second child of Rodger and Clementine Burnett-Triplett.  Her mom Clem, died September 23, 1957 at the age of twenty eight.  Her grandparents, R.D. and Mattie Burnett took guardianship of her and her sister Penny.

Phoebe went to Old Fannin, Goshen Fannin, and Carter High School.  She went to Jackson State University for two years.

She joined Shady Grove C.M.E. Church at a very age and worked faithfully in the church most of her life.  She held various positions:  Church Treasurer for many years, Children's Sunday School Teacher, Adult Choir member, and Stewardess.

She married Johnny Thompson, Sr., on May 22, 1971.  To this union, one son was born, Johnny Jr.  She retired from the United State Postal Service in January of 2012.

Phoebe was a hard worker and very committed to whatever she did.  She loved her son dearly and helped family and anyone that needed her.  She battled her cancer as long as she could.  II Timothy 4:7, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."

Phoebe finished her course April 11, 2015.  Her parents, Rodger and Clem, and her grandparents, R.D. and Mattie Burnett preceded her in death.

Loving Memories will forever be cherished by her family:  loving son, Johnny Clyde Thompson; former husband, Johnny Thompson, Sr., of Fannin, Mississippi; granddaughters, Brittany Thompson of Pelehatchie, Mississippi and JaTerra Davis of Shreveport, Louisiana; sister, Penelope  "Penny" McCoy of Fannin, Mississippi; two aunts,  Mamie L. Taylor and Sharon B. Bell of Fannin, Mississippi and a host of cousins, in-laws and friends.
