Obitury

Stephanie Barnes was born July 2, 1958 in Flora, Mississippi to the union of the late Reverend Calvin Barnes, Sr. and Juanita Jones Barnes.  She is preceded in death by one sister, Linda Barnes Smith and her step-grandson.

Stephanie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior at the age of 12 years.  She was baptized at Society Ridge Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend J. C. Rankin.  After moving to St. Paul, Minnesota in 1976, she joined Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Earl F. Miller.   In 1985 she relocated back to Jackson, Mississippi and restored her membership with Society Ridge Missionary Baptist Church.

Stephanie received her education from Jackson Public Schools; Jackson State Uiversity; and Concordia College in Saint Paul, Minnesota.  From 1985 until 2009, she selflessly dedicated her life as a caregiver/comfort keeper for her mother, aunts, uncles, in-laws, and several other family members.

On May 22, 1998, Stephanie was united in holy matrimony to a loving and devoted husband, James Odis Woodruff, Sr.  On August 26, 2018 at 1:08 pm, it came to pass that what God has joined together, death put asunder.

She leave to forever cherish her memories:  Her devoted husband; two sons, Tony A. Barnes and Shawn L. (Maria) Hayden, Jr., both of Las Vegas, Nevada; two step children James Woodruff, Jr. (Dorice) and Talisha Woodruff, both of Kansas City, Missouri; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two-step great grandchildren; two brothers,  Reverend Calvin Barnes, Jr. of Bloomington, MN and Reverend Lee M. Barnes, Sr. Of Atlanta, Georgia; three sisters, Dorothy Jean Barnes-Griswold of Eagan, MN, Selottie (Charles, Sr.) Thames of Walnut Grove, Mississippi; and Catherine Jackson of Burnsville, MN; two sisters-in-law, Minnie Reed of Lockport, Illinois and Maxine Randon of Dallas, Texas.   Additionall, she leaves one uncle, (her father's twin brother) Holiness Barnes, Sr. (Aunt Anna Lee); one aunt, Catherine (Sylvester, Sr.) Arnold of Jackson, Mississippi and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
