​Smith, Susie Jean, age 79 of Jackson, MS died July 21, 2016 at The Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS.  Funeral
Services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am,  July 28, 2016 at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 1011 W Woodrow Wilson Ave Jackson, MS. Visitation will be Wednesday July 27, 2016 at Willis and                      Sons Funeral Home, 5235 Robinson Road Ext, Jackson, MS 39204. 

Obituary

Mrs. Susie Jean Richardson Smith was born the union of the late Willie and Ora Richardson on August 29, 1936.  She was one of six children raised in their loving and caring home - Paul (deceased) (Mary), Henry (Mae Willie) Willie Dan (deceased) (Ruby), Rose (James), and Henry Jr.

Susie attended Lorman Elementary School, Lorman, MS and Liddell High School in Fayette, MS.  Her education continued when she moved to Jackson, MS where she attended Cosmetology School.

In 1952, Susie married the man who would be her husband for more than 40 years, Curley Smith.  To this union 7 children were born; Curley (Jo), Robert (deceased), Debra, Kenneth (deceased) (Francis), Lawrence (deceased), Jeffery and Stevie.  She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Lenora Seals.  

Susie's religious beliefs were formed at an early age while attending Rose Hill Christian Church.  Later, moving to Jackson, MS, she united with Progressive Baptist Church, later becoming a member of New Hope Baptist Missionary Church.  She served the Lord faithfully and her heart was truly in her church.  Loving her church and pastor, she felt called to serve on the Mother's Board and Mission Board.

Susie's hobbies were making sure there was plenty of food for everyone an making sure it was good.  Talking on the phone was her 2nd  mission, because she wanted to know where everyone was and just what was going on.   Susie knew no greater joy than spending time with family.

After rearing her children, she was blessed to always have grandchildren and great-grandchildren in her home.  She held a special place in her heart for each of them; they will always miss her warm welcome, kind words and delicious cooking.  Her Tree included:  14 grandchildren, Angela, Elisha, Jessica, Kami, Tausha, Delre, Yolanda, Tristan, Darion, Terrance, Emanuel, Alicia, Stevie and Bobbie.  There are 12 great-grandchildren, Daija, Delainey, J'Kennethon, Michael, Kierra, Damon, Cavion, Madison, Tristan, Jr., Elliot, Aroa and Sebastian an a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
