Mrs. Lindsey, Memorial Service will be held on  Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Willis and Son Funeral Home in Jackson, MS.  Her services will begin at 11:00 a.m.  

Obituary

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I kept the faith.  Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day and not to me only, but unto all them that love his appearing."
                                                                                II Timothy 4:7-8

Mary Sue Vernon Lindsey, the first child of two children born to Mary Williams Vernon  McGee and William Vernon, Sr., was born September 14, 1953.  Mary Sue was affectionately called "Baby Sister".  She is preceded in death by her father William Vernon Sr., her mother Mary Williams Vernon McGee, and her brother Williams Vernon, Jr., affectionately know as "Brother".

Mary Sue accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Old McRaven Hill M.B. Church.  Through her walk with Christ, she was affiliated with many churches in the Jackson Metro Area but finally made her home at Power House Church located on Hwy 18 South, Jackson, Mississippi, where she served faithfully until her death. Mary Sue graduated from West Side Elementary, Forest Hill High School and attended Jackson State University.  Mary Sue was employed with Jackson Public Schools as a teacher for a number of years.

Mary Sue joined in holy matrimony to Charles Lindsey on July 25, 1982.  Of this union there  were no children.

She leaves to cherish her memory: Sherry Katherine Vernon(niece), Gertrude Williams Hubbard(aunt - 11 children), James "Hambone" Williams, deceased(uncle - 2 children), James Williams, deceased(uncle), Hattie May Williams, deceased(aunt - 2 children), John Eddie Bryant deceased(uncle - 7 children), Ruth Williams Young Shaw, deceased(aunt - 5 children), R. W. Williams Jr., deceased(uncle - 1 child), 3 sisters and 2 brothers from the union of Hallie McGee and Mary Williams Vernon,  Vicki Minnifield, and many more cherished friends.

"This is not the end of my life story but a new beginning."

Mary was my dearest friend, even when I moved away, we stayed in touch up until her illness, when I could not reach her. So if Aunt Ruth's daughter would email me I would appreciate it.
