Obituary
Ms. Patricia Ann Jonson Bishop was born August 26, 1957 to Julius Johnson Jr. and Gertrude Johnson in Edwards, Mississippi. She was the third of eight children.
Patricia confessed Christ at an early age at Mt. Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Edwards, Mississippi, where she was a faithful and dedicated member. She served as church secretary for over 12 years and also Chairman of the program committee. Patricia later relocated to Vicksburg, Mississippi. Remembering her training and desire to serve the Lord, she converted her membership to the New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She served as a member of her church Usher board and was also a member of the City Wide Ushers of Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Patricia, a gifted student, received her education at Edwards Attendance Center, Hinds County Agricultural High School, Utica Junior College, and the University of Phoenix. Patricia was the creator of Taxes and More Tax Service and was employed part-time with Cedars Head Start. Patricia retied from the Mississippi State Department of Health where she worked for nearly 15 years. Patricia loved traveling, sewing, baking and was passionate about cake decorating.
Patricia, affectionately know as "Tricia" or "Pat", married Larry Bishop. On February 6, 1976, Patricia and Larry celebrated the birth of their only daughter, Syretta Rochelle Bishop. Patricia experienced her love, true love through Syretta.
On February 14, 2015, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, God called Patricia home. A crisp, cool night, where so much love was in the air, Patricia went home to take eternal rest.
Patricia leaves to cherish her fond memories: her only child, Syretta Bishop of Friendswood, Texas; her parents Gertrude Johnson, and Julius Johnson Jr. of Edwards, Mississippi; two sisters, Brenda Johnson and Zelma Davenport both of Edwards, Mississippi; four brothers, Larry Johnson, Willie Johnson (Kimberly Johnson), Leroy Johnson, and Julius Johnson III, all of Edwards, Mississippi. Special friends who will forever cherish her memory, Virgie Kline, Teri Wells, Dorothy Robinson, and Michelle McGloster; a special mother-in-law, Mrs. Daisy L. Bishop, a special sister-in-law, Patricia Ann Bishop of Allen, Texas, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends including the Bishop, Lawrence, Slater, and Rone Families.
Patricia was preceded in death by one brother, Ricky Johnson of Edwards, Mississippi.
