Mrs. Virigia M. Singleton, funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Willis and Sons Funeral Home 5235 Robinson Road Ext., Jackson MS at 1:00 p.m.  Visitation will be Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Willis and Sons Funeral Home. Interment at  Autumn Woods Memorial Cemetery, Jackson, MS.

Obituary 

Virgia Mae Phillips Singleton was born on June 6, 1937 to the late Jasper P. Phillips and Carrie Thompson in Edwards, Mississippi.

She confessed Christ at an early age and joined St. Marks Baptist Church in Edwards, Mississippi.

Virgia attended Edwards Jr. High and Utica High School.  Upon graduation she studied at Dillard University in Louisiana.  

She was united in holy matrimony to Alex Andrew Singleton (Deceased 2012) for 59 years.

Virgia and Alex relocated to Chicago Illinois.  While living in Illinois she maintained her membership at Calvary Temple Baptist Church until she retired from the Chicago Board of Education after 35 years of service.  After retirement they returned to Clinton, Mississippi.  At the time of her death, she was residing in Arlington, Texas with her daughter.     

Virgia is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alex A. Singleton; son, Reginald Singleton, sisters, Lena MacKidd and Ethel Johnson; and brother, L.C. "Bud" Phillips.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory:  her daughter, Darlene Singleton of Arlington, TX; sons, Alex A. Singleton, Jr., of Desoto, TX and Anthony Singleton of Arlington, TX; brother, Alex Phillip of Flint, MI; sister, Bernice Chatmon of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Khyle and Kendall Singleton of Grand Prairie, TX, Calvin, Sade, and Phillip Singleton all of Arlington TX; and a host of relatives and friends.

Long lasting friendship the Willians-Crump familt had with Virgia Phillips-Singleton family. May she rest with the Lord, family members & friends.
